Join us at this special event marking the culmination of the 2018 Adventure Activists Tour, working with Patagonia to share stories of exploration and raise environmental awareness across the UK.
Joining us on stage will be top river activists and kayakers, Rok Rozman and Carmen Kuntz, fresh from their year of protecting the pristine river systems in the beautiful Balkans. We will screen their incredible new film, UNDAMAGED, which explores the stunning Balkan landscape and tells of how a small group of environmental activists created a huge wave of protest and change in this region.
Representing our brand partners at Patagonia will be top mountain guide and ambassador, Zoe Hart (the fourth American woman to earn her IFMGA badge). An ardent environmentalist having just completed her masters, Zoe is based in Chamonix and lives with her husband, Max,and their two small children. She has a long-standing history with Patagonia and can give us insider insights into what makes this unique and fascinating company tick.
Back to the UK, we’ll hear from Dan Yates, top kayaker, skilled optician and one of the founding members of the ‘Save our Rivers’ campaign, whose aim is to keep the UK’s rivers flowing freely; and from Alistair Maltby, one of the founders of The Rivers Trust, the fastest growing environmental movement to protect and restore rivers in the UK and Ireland, described by Carmen as a “river-defending gangsta”.
Kayaker and founder of the Balkan River Tour
Olympic rower turned environmentalist and whitewater kayaker, Rok Rozman campaigns to keep rivers flowing freely across Europe.
Rok started Balkan Rivers Tour as his answer to outdated mainstream environmental campaigns, gathering kayakers and interested public together to raise awareness and to fight for the last wild and free-flowing rivers of Europe. the tour has evolved into the Balkan River Defence movement.
Writer, kayaker and Balkan River Defence writer
A regular contributor at Rapid Magazine and Mountain Life Magazine, Carmen writes about her two passions; the environment and adventure sports. Passionate about river conservation and protecting Canadian wetlands, she also holds a Geography degree.
Carmen aspires to share her passion for environmental conservation and self propelled exploration in honour of the wild people and places that make everyday an adventure.
Dan Yates is a kayaker and environmental activist. Travelling the world as an expedition kayaker, he sees firsthand the destruction that hydroelectric development of free-flowing rivers has on both the environment and local communities.
Dan is a director of Save Our Rivers, a campaign for the protection of our last wild free-flowing rivers, and a partner in the Free Rivers Fund.
Operations Director for the Rivers Trust
Alistair Maltby has spent the last 20 years at the heart of what is probably the fastest growing river conservation movement in Europe.
Devastated by the decline of our rivers, the founders of the Rivers Trust movement decided that campaigning was for others, and that what was missing was the doing. By understanding what is causing the problems in our rivers, the trust has shown people that there are ways to fix them, and that there are alternative ways to manage our rivers that leave them fit for everyone to enjoy.
Mountain guide and Patagonia ambassador
Zoe was the fourth American woman to earn her International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations status, the highest level of credential available to professional mountain guides.
When she’s not guiding or climbing in her backyard, Chamonix, France, Zoe’s on international expeditions or climbing trips throughout North America. Although Zoe considers herself a climbing “jack-of-all-trades,” alpine climbing is her passion.
